St. Matthew’s Catholic Church and its affiliated ministries understands how important your privacy is and we protect any information that is transmitted to us through our web site. This statement explains what information we collect on the site, how we use it, how we protect it, and how you can update or remove that information. Websites that link to stmatthewlb.org and sites that stmatthewlb.org links to may have different privacy policies. This statement applies solely to information collected on stmatthewlb.org.
The Information We Collect
Some areas of our web site ask for personal information. For example, you may register yourself/your family with the parish (so as to receive information from time to-time via the postal service about parish events and, if desired, receive pre-marked contribution envelopes), or you may request pastoral services, or you may request that you be e-mailed information about future events or activities. In each case, the amount of information that you provide is voluntary and your participation is completely optional.
The amount of information we collect is dependent on the type of request that you are engaged in. Registration with the parish or requesting pastoral services typically requires your name or the names of the persons that you are contacting us about. In these instances we may also ask for telephone number(s), postal addresses, and e-mail addresses. Subscription to an electronic newsletter requires only your e-mail address; you will be able to unsubscribe at any time to any e-mail list that you sign up for.
Our web server may automatically recognize information regarding your IP address, domain name, computer make, operating system, or e-mail address. This information is not viewed individually, but it may be used to automatically compile statistics through a software program. Computer make and operating system information may also used to ensure that the display of the website is optimized or otherwise made compatible for your web browsing environment. Statistical information is only used to:
Confidentiality and Protection of Your Information and How To Opt Out of Postal and Electronic Mail Lists
St. Matthew’s takes the confidentiality and protection of your information seriously. Personal data that is collected on our website is maintained in safeguarded locations and transmitted only to authorized persons related to the fulfillment of your request. We do not share or sell e-mail addresses, postal addresses, telephone numbers, or any information regarding any person who has visited or registered with the site.
When you supply St. Matthew’s Church or one of its affiliated ministries with your e-mail address you may receive periodic e-mail messages regarding the parish, its website, or information about related events, activities, and news. You can always opt-out of such communications. If you signed up to an electronic newsletter, you can use the website itself to remove your e-mail address from the newsletter’s mail list by visiting the “home page” of the particular newsletter and following the instructions provided there. If you are otherwise receiving electronic messages from St. Matthew’s, please “reply to” the message (so as to capture its contents in your reply), directing it to Click here to reveal e-mail address, with a request that you be removed from the recipient list and your request will be promptly honored.
When you supply St. Matthew’s with your postal address you may receive periodic postal mailings regarding the parish, its website, or information about related events, activities, and news. If you do not wish to receive such postal mailings, please mark the mail “refused” and return it to the originating postal address and your name/address will be removed from the particular postal mailing list with which it was associated.
When you supply St. Matthew’s with telephone numbers, they are kept in confidence by parish staff and used only for the purpose for which the number was supplied.
If Your Information Changed or You Have Questions About What Information Was Collected
If the information you have supplied St. Matthew’s has changed, we request that you contact us either by e-mail, telephone, fax, or U.S. mail with the correct information. In the case of changed e-mail addresses related to electronic newsletter subscriptions, if you have access to your old e-mail address (unsubscribing requires responding to a confirmation e-mail that will be sent to the e-mail address on file), simply un-register the old address and re-register your new one. If you no longer have access to the old address, our staff can help. Contact the appropriate party by reviewing the appropriate home page of the newsletter you have subscribed to. You can request access to the information that stmatthewlb.org has collected about you or request any changes to that data by sending an e-mail to Click here to reveal e-mail address or writing to the address listed below.
