Catholic Conversations on Racism Series
Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Wilmington, is hosting six afternoons and one evening in Spanish, of liturgies, lectures, workshops and discussions as a response to the sin of racism. This year’s series will give special attention to the experience of Black Catholics in the United States.
We will approach these conversations within the framework of the Church’s mission to communicate the Gospel message by word and example. The first session will be on Saturday, February 4 from 1pm to 4:30pm with Mass at 5pm.

Dr. Austen Ivereigh, of the University of Oxford, is a writer, commentator and speaker on contemporary church affairs, with a specialist interest in the Church of Latin America and the papacy of Francis. He drew on his D.Phil. from St Antony’s College, Oxford, in 1993 — which was published as Catholicism and Politics in Argentina, 1810-1960 — for his biography of Pope Francis, The Great Reformer: Francis and the Making of a Radical Pope, which has been translated into many languages. He has recently published a follow-up, reviewing the pontificate, published in the US as Wounded Shepherd: Pope Francis and the Struggle to Convert the Catholic Church and now available in the UK. As a journalist and commentator, he has written widely on church affairs and on the Francis papacy.

World Day of the Sick Mass
In accordance with World Day of the Sick 2023 and the feast day of Our Lady of Lourdes, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles will be celebrating the World Day of the Sick Mass on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 12:30 PM. Archbishop Gomez will be the principle celebrant for this special Mass at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. Please share the attached flyer in your bulletin and post it at your parish and/or school. This beautiful Mass of healing is open to all. We hope to get the word out especially to those in need of the Anointing of the Sick sacrament. Let’s come together in prayer and support for the sick among us in our faith community.
