My name is Sister Martha Muñoz and I am a Sacred Heart Sister in the Society Devoted to the Sacred Heart. Our Religious Community is dedicated to the works of Evangelization and Catechesis. It is a joy to be assigned to serve this year at St. Matthew’s Parish. I have heard wonderful things about you from Sister Virginia!
I grew up nearby, in Santa Ana, one of four children of Hector and Teodora Muñoz. We were parishioners of Our Lady of the Pillar Catholic Church where I received all my Sacraments. Our Sacred Heart Sisters instructed me. It is wonderful to me how they drew me and my family close to Jesus. In 1994, God’s call
to religious life came through a retreat and since then I have always looked forward. I am grateful for
the unique privilege of being taught as a young Sister by our foundress, Servant of God, Sister Ida Peterfy. During these past 27 years the Lord has called me to serve Him in many ways through parish ministries, retreat work, forming our young Sisters in our teaching methods, speaking on El Sembrador Radio, and working with all ages.
This year is my 25 th anniversary of vows. It is close to my heart. I love my life as a consecrated religious woman and find joy in sharing with others the redeeming and personal love of Jesus. I will be sharing all the prayers and blessings of this year with you and your families. I look forward to meeting you. So, if you see me in my beige habit with my silver Sacred Heart badge, stop and say hello!
